Watch Winder Personalization
Some watch winder manufacturers offer customizing. I call it Personalizing. As far as I can see, the shape (general design) of the housing remains but buyers are given the choice of several types of wood colors for the external body and different colors for the inner lining. And of course, the buyer can specify the number of rotating cups.
But what if buyers are given the choice to design the exterior housing assisted by the manufacturer? Would that be true bespoke customizing?
This cannot happen because most manufacturers have molded several hundreds of parts awaiting assembly and both the exterior finishing and interior linings are the easiest to change. Nowadays, the exterior finishing could easily be done using decorative films or foils and then coat it with layers of lacquer for that luxurious glossy look.
These pictures are examples of foils I’ve found on the website.
Picture below shows a Piaget Collector’s Trunk and I’m drooling all over now. Incidentally, I read that Scatola provides the winding mechanism inside. I’ll attempt to make one of these someday.
