Panerai Watches on Watch Winders
Watches with large dials usually won’t fit cheap watch winders. Why?
Basically, cheap watch winders which hold two watches on a rotating table are poorly designed and cannot accommodate large dials.
Look at the picture below
Can you spot the difference between the two rotating heads?
The one on the right has a separator bridge only about 10mm while the rotating head on the left is about 20mm. So if two PAMs were to sit in the slots on the right head, they will definitely knock against each other. The same two PAMs sitting in slots of the left winding head will do better when placed with its crown facing outwards.
These “low-end” winder manufacturers merely make winders without considering the sizes of today’s watches.
So the next time you shop around for a winder unit, measure the centre separator. It must be at least 20mm thick.
As mentioned in my previous post, this is the wrong way to place your watches. Your watches will not stay wound. Refer my earlier post.
