Watch-strap Valets
In my post on Dec. 18th 2009, I’ve tried making a Watch-strap Valet but it was a total disaster. This time I took my time, gently folding and creasing the faux leather and flocking; sticking them down with glue prior stitching them together. My hard work paid off and I call this a success.
Unlike my previous trial piece, I’m now using a piece of brown faux leather with ostrich motif purchased from
http://www.diyupholsterysupply.com/ in the US. The buckle and press-stud was purchased from Mix-and-Match in Singapore.
I prefer using PU Faux Leather because it’s PVC-free and eco-friendly. From my experience, PU (Polyurethane) Leather is far more resilient than PVC. PVC will peel over time. I’m sure everyone has experienced PVC products which peel and flake.
For more information about PU Leather, please refer to the website mentioned above.
There are a total of 5 pieces of 2mm thick artcard used here to form flaps of this wallet. Completing a piece took about a whole day, carefully creasing the Pleather before stitching it together.
Somehow, someday I’ll try another piece using different materials.
Any offers for this piece?
